"Study" - a research on previous subjects, materials and situations

"The laborious, rigorous "Study" by German performance artist Frauke Frech was a physically and emotionally demanding act. The artist explored and ultimately utilized the spatial qualities and dimensional extend of the enclosed box by pushing its very structure to its limits. Frauke used red tape to form a web of intersecting lines that gradually grew into a ‘trap’ for her and the box itself. The final collapse of the structure and her emergence-birth out of a knot of crushed tape and broken wooden beams alluded to the obsessive abuse of our private sphere both by our own hands and those of the authorities, and its inevitable breakdown."
